Yeah, did live sound for about ten years and recording / mixing for about four. I decided I hated the business and decided to become a normie.

To be clear, Chinese Democracy didn't exactly suck because of the engineer. It was easy to tell where different sessions were pasted together in certain songs. There is only so much you can do with over a decade of sessions recorded in different studios with different gear, musicians, producers, and engineers.
