Okay I'm finished now, dammit! Six PM makes it pretty much of an all day project. Only three trips to get parts though, so I'm actually ahead of the game as far as plumbing goes. I didn't rush through it, and I think total work time was around three hours. But I hate water heater replacement so much, I'm going to haul the old one out to the country and fill it full of holes before applying some explosives to it. Old one was dated 1982, so I don't have to do this very often. <G>

Yep. I have done it. I have also replaced full bathrooms, kitchens, and rebuilt engines. The nice thing about getting older is knowing you CAN do it but dont HAVE to do it.
Heh... Since I did remodeling/rennovations for 20 years or so, my wife will make life difficult if I don't do some of these things myself. Average labor cost for this in Houston is between $200 to $300, so I told her I'd do it, as long as my next cigar purchase doesn't get any complaints. Oddly enough it worked. <G>

As a side note, my best remodel was a flooded house. I replaced everything from halfway up the walls on down. Three days before carpet installation the house flooded again. The second repair only took half the time and cost exactly the same. I even remembered some of the exact measurements on cabinets and such...

Eh, it wouldn't be so bad if you got paid for it and you didn't cause the flood

It was an unoccupied rental house. The owner didn't really mind as insurance paid 100% of it. The second time doing the exact same house, I grinned most every day. Profits were very nice that month as far as I recall.
