I believe I had the Exclusivo. What a damn fine experience! The Anny is definitely not all hype. Well deserved of all the praise.
Now I need to find a retailer that takes ******, Mrs Basskiller doesn't see my ****** as she does the credit card. I'll more likely be sticking with the regular Padron line and sneak a few Anny into the humidity for special occasions.

I saw this thread a bit earlier, and after stopping at a B&M I walked out with a 64 anny maduro principe. One hell of a cigar! Smoked it last night on a walk with my wife.
The concept of paying so much money for a non-Cuban petite corona is pretty ricockulous. But the Padron '64 Principe and also the '26 #35 are cigars I make an exception for. They are just so fabulous, it's worth the coin. Honestly, I like them better than any of the short-format Habanos, though there are certainly some great ones.

If you really want a treat see if you can find yourself a Padron 1926 series 40th anniversary, and I know there is a bit of contention between the 44,45,and 46... But I highly recommened trying a Padron Family Reserve 46, both in Natural and Maduro...you'll both love and hate yourself for indulging in those.

glad you enjoyed it!

if you had asked me a year ago, I would've said they would be top.

now, my view has changed. a good cigar, no doubt - I just don't get that excited for Nic tobacco... I'll light up the occasional Tat just because so many people on BOTL do... gives me some perspective and discussion... but I'm more of a fan of ISOM and Dominican tobacco...

the last few Padron Annys I had were peppery and dirty. Sure, they are good in some vitolas, especially the maddys, but at that price, I need hand grenade accuracy... meaning if I toss a grenade in the walk-in, anything that comes out burning better be good.

my $0.02.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but they do nothing for me.
I have been trying my best to like them hard as I can smoking 26s 64s 1000s aging them for months but few weeks ago I just quit trying Padrons. Nothing more then dirt tasting tobacco with sugar IMO.
Another chilly pepper stick IMO.
I always try some NCs just to give them a chance, but most likely I end up with a so-so feeling except for some organic Hodurans and Panamanians that are quit good for me .
Some Tatuajes are good but the price is the same or higher then the Cubans so not so convincing.
If the Padrons and Tats had the same prices at least as to some Mille Fleurs or even Quinteros then it would be a consideration to buy them constantly IMO.
I always wounder what precisely could be the reason .
Does anyone feel the added sugar in many NCs or is that only me ?
Sorry if I offend some Padron followers but i just dont get the hipe.

^ Different tobaccos have different levels of natural sweetness. If you're smoking maduros, then those are often much sweeter. There is certainly nothing "added" in the sense of artificial, if that's what you mean. Padrons are very "dirty" cigars, no question. I just like that is all :) Just a preference thing. Some people find HdM Epi #1s to be "flavorless" or "like smoking hot air," but I happened to love the one I had last week.

It's all good, man! Different strokes and all that. To me Mille Fleurs are decent when they've aged for 4+ years. I've only had a couple Quinteros, but I'd rather smoke about a dozen different $2 NCs rather than smoke another one. There are many cheaper NCs, though, especially in the $3-4 range that are excellent, if your main issue is price.

If you want some recommendations for NCs that might appeal more to a CC-lover, I'm sure many here can provide that.

An NC that appeals to CC smoker? well yes I would love to know since I get the same feeling every time I try with some exceptions .
About the added flavor - Yes i feel the added flavors even if they say they do not add them ( by the way there are many articles about the method of adding flavors in so-called Premiums ) so I just keep distance from them ( I prefer natural most organic possible cigars , and they have cleaner taste ) .
An aged RyJ Cazadores , PLPC , SLR DC , Mag 46 , Upm Conn 1 and even JL n1 n2 do give out sweet flavors, but thats not the edgy sticky sugar taste , they are more softer and cleaner , but the Padrons , Perdomos , Illusiones , Viajes , olivas and some house blends from Florida taste similar to Betunado cigars which is ok but doesnt deserve there prices IMO .
About the maduros, the one I like most arent that sugar sweet ( Alonso Menendez , Coh Mad Sectretos , Be-spoke , Monte n2-n4 at least in color ) .
About the prices , a so-so cigar must be in the so-so price IMO, and it was just a reference to mention Mille Fleurs or Belvedere if I had to categorize the the Padrons , an ok cigar but the price is not ok.
Dont know if you had the same impressions .

It's a shame your palette can't enjoy the NCs... there are so many wonderful experiences to explore.
I do enjoy a lot of Alonso Menendez , Colon , Tats , Marcafina Bundles , Santiago Cabanas , Litto Gomez Diez and they are all NCs .

Anyone know how these age? I just purchased a handful of them that are about 3 years old.
What I've read in other posts suggests that since the tobacco in both the 64's and the 29's is already aged, they don't really benefit from long term aging. 3 years isn't that long in the grander scheme of things though.

Awesome, as long as they're not aged past their prime already I have no problem smoking them fairly soon.

The guy I bought them from has quite a few more...Have to think about picking them up.

Thanks!

The 26's were a much stronger blend and have stood up to long term aging very well......imho.
I feel the 1000 blend ages the best. Currently working on some nat and mad 3000 from 2000 that I really enjoy. The nice thing about this blend is the very reasonable cost.

I am one of the few that are in the "don't like" catagory on these. I have to inform you that I have only had 3 of each kind from the '64's and '26's though in a sampler package. I bought the maduro sampler when in Miami in January at the Padron factory, and let them rest for a few months before starting into the first one. I have no idea how anyone could call these cigars morning sticks as they were all chalked full of black pepper spice to the point that if I didn't have a drink with every puff my mouth started to get almost raw. The power in all of these cigars was crazy, so I thought it might have been the fact that they all came in the cedar lined box. I took the last 2 cigars ( a 64 and 26) out of that box and left open in humi for a couple months, but that didn't tame them at all.
I did however like the 2000 that came with the package, it was by far the best of that sampler in my opinion....weird.

I AM NOT TRYING TO START A FLAME WAR OR ARGUMENT, this is just what I experienced and was trying to state that I have only had limited experience with these, but it will be hard to spend that much on something I have tried before and didn't favor.
Good luck with your purchase, hope you enjoy these as it seems many others do. :smokingco
