Hmmm... wonder what a PR expert would think of my last post?

Let's see:

Called a potential Customer Stupid - check
Called a potential Customer Moronic - check
Used Foul Language - check
Told all Customers that prices with go up - check
Told a potential Customer to not buy their product - check

Hmmm... bet my "Q" rating really sucks. <snicker>

This is the best interaction i have ever seen in any business, and for that i respect you sir. Its nice to know that a person can have a opinion and beliefs and not have to worry about what the stock holders or the lawyers are going to say. I applaud you and i will go out of my way to support you and your company with my wallet for that. I just wish other business owners would do the same.

I enjoy how everything ssaka posts is greeted with one of only 2 reactions:
1) unashamed/schoolgirl crush level ass kissing
OR
2) complete "FU, I will never buy anything LP again".

Keep it up brother.
Mr Saka probably has more bromance here than he'd care to know...
I'm not sure which one is stranger (the unholy mancrush guys or the guys who get their panties in a twist because someone dared post something that wasn't kissing their asses as consumers). But there are definitely more of the ssaka mancrushes here. I've all but seen some love poem's written to him on here.

It is kinda weird - this whole interacting online I mean.

Most businesses, including the cigar one, do NOT interact directly online with consumers in an uncontrolled environment because it's a f'ing nightmare.

Over-adulation is bad because it makes some folks despise you even though you got nothing to do with the accolades others post.

There are a few haters who tear at you at every chance they can get. They actually get a boner trying to stick you in the eye.

And trying to walk that line between being informative vs. being perceived as just posting to get folks money is really impossible.

The end result is very, very few companies or principals of companies post online.

And can you blame them? It really is a no win scenario.

Over the years I have seen some really great company guys who were the most devoted posters eventually get tired of getting their teeth kicked in, so they stop.

The problem for me is I like to post online, I have always been a real cigar geek and I have been interacting in cigar forums, chats, etc. since about late 1993. Long before I worked for JR or was a partner and officer in DE.

And what I decided long ago was I was just going to continue posting honestly and forthright as myself and not really worry about people's opinions.

I try to keep the bullshit quotient down, I try to be respectful, and I try to contribute to any place I post by actually adding answers and threads to general cigar info not just company related stuff.

At the same time, when I don't agree with someone, I post so and don't really care if all the readers like my response, because they are not going to.

Of course I end up answering more DE related stuff these days just because that is what the original poster is looking for when they ask a DE related question. Some day I will retire and won't answer those questions anymore.

And maybe this does hurt business sometimes, but in the end I am who I am and I am going to keep doing what I do.

People are going to form their own opinions regardless of what I do.

Some folks think I am fantabulous, others think I am total dick.

Personally, I think the truth lies somewhere between the two.

I smoke LP. I enjoy LP. Can't necessarily afford to buy boxes of LP all the time but the cigars are an indulgence for me. I'd like them to be less expensive but like Steve said, it would force them to be lesser cigars and I like them just fine as it is.

I appreciate that Steve takes the time to interact with us and I also appreciate the no bullshit approach. Thanks Steve, don't change for anyone, and your model of business has worked damn well for you so far, in case you needed any more validation.

Of course if you wouldn't mind sending me a 5'er I'd be even more eternally grateful... ;)

Is it worth $17 ? Definitely. It's a wonderful stick at any price. And if any of you suckers want to pay $20, I'll sell. ;)

Very true. I was uber-shitfaced at the BOTL safari and I think I might have tried the "bro hug" on Saka like JD greets EVERYONE with. I'm glad he didn't punch me out LOL.
