Britt,

My RH sits between 63-66 all the time and that smoke has been resting for months. It tasted like pure poop the whole way through. Had to MU it at 3/4
Fixed
I don't get it...
No I suppose you wouldn't.

I stick to what I said earlier. Not all Gurkas are bad. Smile while you smoke them. Then just send her pictures of great cigars you smoke throughout the year so she has something to draw from.
Ok... I meant I didn't get what MU meant. But sure thing.

Thank you for the enlightenment good sir. All knowledge is greatly appreciated by this n00b.

No problem, there's a funny story somewhere on this forum explaining "MU'd" about Jfire (I think) digging a MU'd fuente out of an ashtray and smoking it. If I could remember the thread I would link it

In the end you know your relationship best. What's more likely to get you laid? Honesty or pretending to love it. Cause in the end isn't that what matters hahahah

All I know is my ex bought me some "nice" sosa cigars from disney for christmas last year and she put a lot of time into them knowing that I loved cigars as much as her and in the end it was the thought that counted. I kept them front and center in the humi so she knew that I loved them. Its all about the thought.

In the end I ended up pitching them (we didn't work out) and I had no problem doing it ;)

BUT they where still some of my most sentimental and cherished smokes at the time, its a nice gesture.

Here is my response to this thread that blew up. One I dont hate all gurhkas I just know there are better sticks that I could have for 10 dollars a stick she spent. 2 I love her for trying but I wish she would have gone to any b&m she got these on some deals site so who knows how they were stored or what. 3 these and enought to fill a box are going to the soliders. 4 im going to lie my ass off and tell her i love them and when I smoke a good stick I will tell her its one she got me. If all else fails I will take brits advice and hit her.

I'd smoke them if they were from my wife. Or at least give them a shot. Not sure how long you've been smoking, but my wife knows I love most regular Tats and knows four or five of the CCs I smoke. Let your wife in on cigar convo with you! It will help with future gifts!

Thats one of the sad parts, she can name all my regular smokes cause I talk about them alot. Iam thankful she tried so I might save one or two but I havent sent any sticks to the troops before so iam happy about that, I have some mild bundles of upmans that I moved on to different profiles so I wont smoke them and I dont have anyone around that smokes so they would go to waste saving. Now I just need to look up where to send the sticks to.

you smoke them...

as a general rule they arent horrible sticks..

they are typically over priced... and many people (especially around here) dont care for their marketing practices..

but they arent going to kill you..

and your wife made a sincere attempt to do something that she thought would please you...

give her a gift back.. act appreciative... and go smoke them.. letting her know when you are heading out to fire up her "Christmas smokes".. etc... make her smile.. and let her enjoy the gift of giving...

This. She made a valid attempt to give you something that makes you happy. Be thankful she supports your habit and wants to please you!

I hear a lot of answers from people that ask permission to take their balls out from time to time... :hammersma :nono:

Tell her the truth now or possibly get more of the same later. Your choice. Honesty is good.

If I don't like something my wife gives me (cigars or otherwise) I tell her, it makes life less complicated. However, I have been married almost 18 years and that might not have been the case 17 years ago.

Be a man for god's sake!! Thank her and try to steer her in the right direction so you're both not wasting your time. But most of all be honest. Or better yet tell her if she wants to please you she can *fill in the blank with whatever you want her to do more often* and leave the cigar buying to you.

If you're really against smoking them or keeping them for guests (LOVE the term mooch-idor, by the way) and you don't mind a small white lie, then go buy some sticks that you do like to smoke and that appear similar to the cigars your wife gave you and donate the Gurkhas to CfW. That's just another option. Personally, it's not an option I would take because it involves lying to my wife and I want to encourage her to continue to support my hobby.

I'm in the "thank her profusely and keep them" camp - if nothing else, they'll probably be fantastic yard-gars for you in the Spring.

I can see how the replies could be interpreted that way but showing appreciation and gratitude isn't the same as asking permission to take my balls out. There are now 364 shopping days until next Christmas, so there are plenty of ways between now and then to let her know that the OP would prefer a different cigar in a way that keeps her supportive.

I guess all of our relationships are different, but from day one over 20+ years ago, if I didn't like something I told her. I don't like wasting money and she does the same for me. I see no point in fawning over something I don't want or like. To me that is lying from the get go.

What would you want her to do if you bought her something she didn't like?

So I just found out that my wife got me a present for christmas, she bought me a gurhka sampler. I tell her every year that if she wants to get me something I will tell her 3 things I want and she can choose one and every year she wastes money on something I dont want. Hell for 50 bucks I could have got 2 packs of baitfish and saved 10 bucks.
So what do you guys do when someone gives you something you will never use? And more importantly how do I stop her from getting shit I wont smoke or use?
Shit...you should be happy that she's buying cigars period! My wife mentioned yesterday that I shouldn't buy any cigars for the whole of 2014!:eek::thumbdown::what:

I agree it is cool that your wife buys you cigars it shows that she is trying to get you something you appreciate. Now to coach her on how to spend her efforts in the right way.
Same as if you were trying to buy her something foo foo, hell we don't know how to buy that!

Here is the thing to do, fawn over her effort and her intent, not necessarily the end result.... Maybe next year give her a list of brands NOT to buy, or websites or B&M's not to go to.. Better yet tell her the ONLY B&M to go to and tell them to only let her buy certain things..... There you go I like that idea!!! lol
