I had some friends that went to China and they all came back with new suits. The tailor come right to their rooms to take measurments and comes back a day or two later with the suit, shirt and tie. Very inexpensive.

I've heard about this. Wish they did it with north face jackets since its part of my life uniform in the colder part of the year :)

Lunch in Hangzhou was delicious

Some fruit, some lotus root, some veggies, lamb, duck, and these...

A local shrimp dish(took picture a little late)

Some fish(love the way they present fish here)

And the gem

Apparently I landed here during crab season. You split them open and suck out the eggs. Super weird, but they were pretty good. Tasted like sweet egg yolk. Then you try to break the legs etc but you don't get tools like at home. They use their teeth to break open the legs...I suck at crab with tools let alone my teeth but I tried. They saw me struggling and brought me scissors. I just gave up lmao :)

Spent a lot of time in Hangzhou back in the day. Actually the Canadian ex-pat that worked for my company lived there. Very beautiful city. Visit the ancient Buddhist temple if you get some time. It is around 2000 years old and very interesting.

All of the food looks amazing. I know it sucks being away from the family but I hope you realize how lucky you are to get to experience all of this. Take notes and when your kids are old enough bring them back!

Unfortunately after driving to Ningguo and back the day is cooked. Hanging at the Hyatt cigar lounge before flying back to Shenzhen tomorrow morning.

I'll prob be back and will give myself more time. Cool town, not as crowded as my normal beaten paths...

Won't lie, I miss them like crazy but I do take it all in. Now that I've been on the go for over a week I'm at the point where I just want to wrap up and get on a long plane ride home.

Thanks everyone for following along and keeping me sane. Can't wait for an English conversation where I don't have to speak without slang....right Rupe? :)

Yep...know exactly what you mean.

I also learned really quickly that even expressions like "cover all the bases" or "the whole 9 yards" have no context for people who don't play baseball or football. My slow broken English became very well developed at times. Thankfully I had a co-worker that was fluent in mandarin.

Haha I know what you mean. Anything even remotely out of context, slang, or figure of speech has no bearing.

I travel with an agent who translates well and speaks good English but I can't stay far from the track. You really do learn to narrow it down to the basics since its what people learned at "university".

Are you going through the hong kong airport on the way back? If so I'm curious about the duty free cigar selection, I'll be traveling through in January to New Zealand. I love the trip updates, keep em coming.

That's pretty horrendous to me, and just my very humble, very Western opinion.
I love dogs, and that is just barbaric.
No offense to anyone or anybody's culture/beliefs, just beyond my understanding, I guess.

When i was a kid my family raised rabbits comercially (one barn had 10k the other had 3k). I had pet rabbits, one would come running to meet me whe i got off the schoole bus. But to this day i would take bbq rabbit over a steak. So i don't see that much of a difference with dog. Would i eat my pet dog, no just like i would not eat my pet rabbits.
