Little B&M haul tonight to fill some holes in the lineup (Room 101, San Lotano Habano, La Palina Classic, La Palina Black Label).

Anyone know if there's a difference between these two black labels and the one without the secondary label?

Also grabbed a couple of Rickys and a Black and Brown cuz I guess they broke up a couple of lance samplers :)

From what I remember reading, the new La Palina blacks are supposed to be stronger than the other line. The one without the secondary band is just the maduro version of the regular line.

Elite pulled out a box of the Goldie lancero, but 16 bucks is kinda high for me

Smoked a Caldwell Eastern Standard Silk Road I bought from Ryan, man was that a delicious smoke. I think I offer the cream crush, but the lance was delicious as well.

Beautiful Texas day! Starting it off with an H Upman sungrown with thanks! It has a nice dark tan wrapper, nicely packed with minimal veins. Pre light aroma is a sweet tobacco. After lighting it, it has a snug draw, but still provides good smoke output.
The first third gives a creamy leather, with an earthy tobacco finish. I'd say it started out mild-medium. One thing I'll mention is that I really loved the smell of the footsmoke. I'd waft it in, getting this great sweet tobacco aroma.
The 2nd third shifted a bit, and I got less of the leather, and a little pepper started coming in. The flavor stayed similar to this towards the end, and the strength stayed around a straight medium. Not a bad smoke, might pick em up if they come up on the monster. They would make a bad good morning smoke

So far I'd rank em as:
1. Tat black pl (who doesn't love these)
2. San Lotano maduro
3. Tat red label
4. H Upman sungrown
5. Padilla

Lancero February:
Stick #1: L40 by Drew Estates
Stick #2: 2014 TAA by CyB
Stick #3: 2012 Illusione Holy Lance
Stick #4: DPG Original Blue

Weather is crap today and snowing heavily, so great time to head to garage for cigar time. Today Ive pulled out a DPG blue label that has a bit if age to it. Pairing with a Cream Soda.

I feel I let this stick get past its prime. The pepper is all but gone. Which isnt such a bad thing, but it also lost alot of its complexity as well. The cigar is burning great with good smoke, but the only real flavors I get are a bit of wood, a dash of pepper on the retrohale, and tobacco. Its good, but I know what these taste like fresh and I think thats better. This is just coming off a bit flat for me.

Day 1: Lost City
Day 2: Fausto
Day 3: La Riqueza
Day 4: Cabaiguan Guapos
Day 5: La Casita Criolla
Day 6: Tat Red
Day 7: Tat Brown, 7-20-4
Day 8: Opus X PL

Wrapper aromas: Raisins, Sour milk, Vanilla, Barnyard.

One of the most pleasing mouth feels of any cigar anywhere, with its unusual long narrow form factor and torpedo cap. Seamless wrapper of beauty. Cold draw a tad snug but opened to an ideal slight resistance upon lighting.

This is a pleasure to retrohale. Uniform light gray ash easily holds for an inch before I get nervous about it.

There is a hint of tar at the cut, at the 1/3 mark. I'll try to just ignore it.

Flavors are the raisin, buttermilk, less than a hint of pepper on the retro (so smooth!). I'm pairing it with nothing at all. I just want this. Only this.

Since Spanks mentioned foot smoke in his astute review above, I'll mention the abiding sweetness of the room note on this stick; I'm jealous of the people sitting next to me :)

I may be forced to slot this just above the La Ricky. But JUST barely. I may have to smoke another Ricky to be sure.

Ranked top to bottom thus far:

Lost City
Opus X PL
La Riqueza
7-20-4
Tat brown
La Casita Criolla
Cabaiguan Guapos
Tat red
Fausto

The one without the label is a La Palina maduro 40. The Black is a different line altogether. I like the maduro 40 better.... the profile reminds me of the LAT 46 SS.

Started with a Cladwell Silk Road but the wrapper imploded and became unsmokable
So I switched to a tried and true Drum Stick. Perfect draw, billowing smoke and great flavors

I also just burned a Silk Road and the wrapper started burning crazy after 15 minutes it was such a terrible smoke.

Tried to go for a number 2 today. Failed miserably. The La Duena is one of my favorites out of my father cause it isn't as peppery, so I was really looking forward to this one. It was squishy throughout and no smoke production at all when I lit it. Fucking blows. Oh well, lot this little guy up to dull the pain ha
