What trouble are you having? The only thing that would need lube are the motor bearings. The impeller floats in liquid, sort of a liquid bearing. If the hole on the impeller is gummed up that can cause trouble. Lubing this will cause more headaches. Scrub the hole out with boiling water and let it dry. If it is during the boil/whirlpool stage try angling the dip tube up off of the floor. Most likely getting vapour lock at this point. Another thing to keep in mind is to have larger fittings on the intake side of the pump. And don't mix and match fitting sizes in a hose run.Used my new system yesterday to brew up 10gal of my red ipa. There were a few hiccups but in the end there was beer. No pics because my phone is broke to hell and i didnt grab my tablet. If anyone here knows how to fix a chugger pump that isnt working right let me know. I pulled the head and the impeller and magnet all look good. I'm afraid the pump itself may have outlived its usefulness

That looks like it will be a tasty easy drinker. Will be curious to hear your thoughts on the finished product. All cascade.
It's kinda hard to explain. When it's first plugged in it makes a loud squeaking noise and pumps good at first then gets to normal operating sound but only pumps a trickle. I pulled the head and everything looks good in there so I'm confused. Maybe you can come check it out when you have some free time because I can't find anything wrong with the pumpWhat trouble are you having? The only thing that would need lube are the motor bearings. Get some 3-1 oil and hit the motor bushings lightly. They sound dry. That should do it.It's kinda hard to explain. Will do, will need to plan a day you can come brew with us. We gotta brew that rye beer of yoursGet some 3-1 oil and hit the motor bushings lightly. They sound dry. That should do it.
That is a good idea. The oil should do the trick. Sounds like the motor. The pump itself should be good for a long time. Will do, will need to plan a day you can come brew with us. We gotta brew that rye beer of yours
That's exactly what I did, lol. The info you sent was a big help actually and I hope to be posting growth pics in the near futureDid you use the base of wet vacs for planters?? That's freakin hilarious. I hope that info I sent you helps out and good luck with the growth
I've been researching doing this here in Kansas City. I grow quite a bit of veggies so I think I should be able to grow hops. Would love some info.Got my rhizomes in and got them planted. Will need to replant the small bucket when I can find a larger pot and then will have to run some string up to the roof for the bines when they start to take off.
Where did you get the rhizomes, maybe @sean will let me sneak a few in on of his planters. I wonder if all that citrus would have an affect on the flavor/aromaThat's exactly what I did, lol. The info you sent was a big help actually and I hope to be posting growth pics in the near future
There isn't a ton of info that I have found and hops grow like weeds in the right conditions. They like 6-8 hours of sun a day and a fair amount of water. They can grow up to 20 feet tall so they need something to climb and when they start growing you have to train them to grow around whatever it is you want them to climb.I've been researching doing this here in Kansas City. I ordered from yakimavalleyhops.com, they were by far the least expensive rhizome vendor I have found at $3.50/rhizome and shipping isn't bad either. I'm sure they would be fine growing around citrus.Where did you get the rhizomes, maybe @sean will let me sneak a few in on of his planters. It depends on the flowering cycles...There isn't a ton of info that I have found and hops grow like weeds in the right conditions. They like 6-8 hours of sun a day and a fair amount of water. I am looking to try a few simple varieties this year and I will definitely be trying Great Lakes for a more established plant. Thanks for the info. I have seen hops grow horizontal, is there any reason I couldn't train them to grow on my fence?Anyone going to jump into this I highly recommend looking into hop crowns from Great Lakes Hops. It puts you about 2 years ahead of starting from a rhizome. Although more varieties are available if you start from rhizomes.
Also if you don't have the space for a trellis bines can be trained to grow horizontally on a lattice or gated fence. You just have to keep up with it because they grow like crazy.
You should be concerned with herbicides put on that field.I am looking to try a few simple varieties this year and I will definitely be trying Great Lakes for a more established plant. Beautiful property!I am looking to try a few simple varieties this year and I will definitely be trying Great Lakes for a more established plant. Thanks for the info. I have seen hops grow horizontal, is there any reason I couldn't train them to grow on my fence?
Didn't think of that. However, there is 2-3 feet behind that fence that grows weeds and he never kills those. I think he uses the area as a buffer to avoid spraying anything in my lawn. Will definitely take that into consideration. You should be concerned with herbicides put on that field.
Of course, if the farmer kills your stuff, that would be illegal. You can decide if you want the hassle.
Thanks!Beautiful property!
