I used to and I should start again. I forget a lot of the less remarkable stuff and end up repeating mistakes and probably missing a few gems.

I did at first. I tried a couple of apps but then after awhile I just asked myself "Why Bother?" and stopped.
In a way it's nice because I can dig around in the humi now and find a nice cigar I forgot I had and enjoy the surprise.

I have a cigar journal from warped cigars - I usually use it for any cigar that I am smoking for the first time especially, but sticks i've smoked a ton of as well. But I only do each cigar once (unless it's a different size or taste different enough to make a note of for aging purposes etc.) as it's not a log so much as it's more of a reference book for me.

Here is a old picture of what it looks like:

I do the same, mostly because my memory is not what it used to be. To avoid buying and smoking the same bad cigar I find keeping notes helps me. I will probably after a time may try a cigar if it is popular and my tastes have changed over time. I still run into cigars that many rave about only to find I don't like it or it is too much for me.

I don't journal or log per se but I do use excel for inventory. It's actually pretty easy to maintain once I built it. I have brand, size, date received/purchased/or box date if I have it and then the qty. I include a notes section but it's extremely simple e.g. Box worthy, fiver, don't buy again etc. when I purchase anything outside of a box, I put an individual band on it with the date and anything I want to capture. I do this for bombs especially so I can thank who sent them to me when I Smoke them. Is it more work, yes. Does it decrease my enjoyment, no. I don't overdo it and always know what I have and how old. I don't capture the humi location so I still get the surprises when I find something. I'm slightly OCD with a penchant for organization so I enjoy the process. I have just over 1,400 and it's not difficult to manage.

Impressive.

Oh, not that you smoke that much but that you keep track with smoking that much. :)
Haha. I sometimes forget during the day but I keep all my bands so I just reduce the qty accordingly. Pretty easy to catch up when I forget.

Same here as a lot of other guys. Used the app and then got lazy. I would actually like to get back into it. Really easy to lose track haha

I try so much different stuff I would be lost if I didn't keep some notes. It really helped me many years ago as well to know I liked Nicaraguan tobacco better then Honduran, etc...

I tried to use the Cigar Scanner app. I had so many sticks in the "my humidor" section of the app and the latest update completely wiped it.

I keep a list of how many and date purchased on my phone. I try my best to keep it updated. Miss a few now and then but it is pretty accurate.

If I smoke something new that blows me away I pin the band to a board by my desk so next time I am shopping I'll remember to grab more.
Like a lot of others I don't keep track anymore although if I get a bomb I mark those so that I can thank that person every time I smoke one that has been gifted.

All I did was take a picture of every different cigar I smoked on my phone, but than last week my phone died and now I've lost all those pictures. I also started a log of every cigar but that became to much work very quickly.

Just wondering if any of you keep records of cigars? cigars purchased, traded, or smoked? I have a note book, and I photograph with my phone sticks I smoke, and what I think about it. I also keep records of what I receive from you, and purchase. I don't feel like a nerd, but my memory is spotty at best and I feel this will keep me from repurchasing cigars I don't like, and wasting money.
I keep a spreadsheet of what's in my wineador, how I got it, how much I paid if I bought it, and MSRP if available. Once I smoke it, bomb it, or trade it I delete it from the list.

I just take a pic. Most of the time it's to remind me what has been in the rotation. Sometimes the comment area is, "Don't go there again" Other times it's "Get more of those" :)
