Smoking Half

One day, a friend of mine wanted to split a cuban cigar with me. Since time was short, she cut the cigar in half and we proceeded to smoke our respective halves. It was a Cohiba. I've had a whole one before, smoking half was a little anti-climactic

Have you ever smoked half a Cuban Cigar? Is there a difference in smoking half as opposed to the whole? What did I miss? If I didn't see her cut it in half and she gave it to me like that whould I have still felt let down?

Smoking half would definitely never be the same as smoking the whole thing.

Maybe the first half would be the same but the second would be missing all the build up from the first half.

Cigars are meant to be smoked as a whole.

I would never do that.

That was part of the problem. We didn't have time to smoke a whole stick each so her solution was to cut it in half and for each of us to smoke half. She's Cuban and has (REAL) Cuban Cigars all the time. She just wanted to share her cigar with a friend. I didn't tell her that it felt like something was missing from the experience, but it was. The next time I saw her we each smoked a whole Cohiba. That was a complete experience.

i don't know man...I never light a cigar unless I know I'll have time to finish it.

if i'm short on time, I'll reach for a PC os opposed to a churchill, that's pretty much my solution.

the only time I've ever smoked a half a stick is if I either don;t like it (trying something new) or it has major problems (plugged, dried out, etc.

Most Cohibas I've been told, have several flavor changes, from grassy and creamy to bean and creamy. I would think each of you would miss out on the maximum pleasure that cigar could deliver.

Find out how much they paid for that "cohiba" cause I have a feeling it wasn't a cuban if they were so willing to go and cut the thing in half.

The cigar was made to be smoked from the end, so one person would be smoking it from a middle and the other a chopped off version. Either way, it would probably screw with the taste and experience.

Bad idea. Surprised whoever had the front half was able to keep it from unraveling. I'm of the opinion mentioned above somewhere: I don't light up unless I've got time to finish it. It's just not worth it otherwise.
