I've seen slightly squared because they fit tightly in the box. Of course they rounded out if you gave em some room or age.
To an inexperience eye, i am willing to be this is the case. When traveling in Switzerland, I have seen the same thing. Squeeze ten into a box and they gain a slightly squared shape that could be confused with box press. After all is that not what box pressed means?

Kyleb, the pics look great, but there is one very very important detail that has so far been unmentioned.

You can copy a triple cap, boxes, bands, seals, etc., but in the end, your nose knows.

What does it say?

Well, band is certainly good, as well as the other aspects. And, if yer nose says it's a real Monte, then it most certainly be one.

Light her up.
I've found that Monte's vary so much in taste, quality..
The #2 is one of the worst & best I've had.

Does anyone have an opinion on the #4?

I agree with ye on this. It is probably because, given the fact that we're talking about possibly the best-selling ISOM, they sometimes focus more in having the desired quantity, against the quality everybody looks in them.

As far as the No.4 goes, I've had me share and surely will have more. Coffee, cocoa and a slight hint of vanilla, without forgetting a tad of spiciness. The Petit Tubos are the same, only that tubed.

Looking at the pictures it is a definate box press as the edge continues up the neck.

Been smoking "real" cigars for over twenty years and the only box press Monte I've seen is the duhills that have been discontinued for years.
That being said I don't dispute anyone on this, I'm just saying I haven't seen one or read about a box pressed Monte 2 (by box pressed I mean one that has been put in a mechanical press).

Interesting enough to go do some research on it.

I do have a question, what was the box code on any of these box pressed Montes?

I have no clue what the box code was.

The guy who gifted this stick to me has been my source for years. He's never failed me, and his sticks have always been genuine.

I'm not saying this stick is the sure thing, he certainly could have been tricked.

I may see him this weekend, if so, I'll grab the code off the box.

That press is so slight... & to ask your friend seems overkill for a monte.
(Especially because it was a gift.)

Just
smoke
it.

Right
now.

Go
ahead...

As far as I've seen the #1, 3 and 4's are box pressed but none of them have a ring gauge of 50
Are you trying to disprove me using those pictures? I see boxes upon boxes of these at my local B&M and they all have a slight box press.
Not at all daniyal, I'm just saying I've never seen a Box Press Monti #1,3,or4 and as evidence from the factory, they're rolled then boxed.
Box Pressing, as far as I've read, is done mechanically. Now if you're speaking of the MCs being compressed in the box then that's a different story and the term would be compressed as in

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. :)

Upon further investigation:
Cigar Aficionado said:
In standard box-pressing, round cigars are packed tightly into boxes so that, over time, their shape conforms to that of the box. By the time the box reaches the retailer, pressure from all four sides of the box has "pressed" the cigars into an amorphous shape somewhere between a circle and a square. Standard box-pressing is more common than trunk-pressing, an elaborate and time-consuming alternative.
I will stand corrected. :)
