I'm looking for something that I can use to hook my iPod up to my stereo in my truck. I have a 2003 Ford Expedition. What I've found is this but I really don't want to spend $135 to do it or have to rip the stereo out of my truck to hook it up. Anybody know of an easier solution?

Thanks,
Wade

If you want full control, that is your best bet. If you just want to gear the music go to apple.com and buy the kit they sell for FM radios. Unless your car radio has an input in the front.

One trick that helps when you are using an FM modulator is to remove your car's antenna. When I drove cross-country in my old truck, listening to audio books on my iPod, I unscrewed my antenna so that there was no interference from local radio stations. It didn't cause any problems with reception from the iPod transmitter.

OK, I just found this one too. Any thoughts? I don't have an input on the stock stereo otherwise it would be a no brainer, the one I linked at first, you have to connect to the back of the stereo which is really not that big of a deal, but this Radio Shack one I listed in this post seems to be the ticket, unless y'all have some reason why it's junk.

Wade, if your going to do an FM transmitter I would go Monster or don't get anything at all. Do you have a stock CD change in your car? If so you could get your ipod adapter to connect through the cabling that works your changer and will give you full control through your stock head unit.

This is probably one of the best FM transmitters you can get:
http://www.ccrane.com/radios/fm-transmitters/fm-transmitter.aspx

But it won't power your ipod, and requires its own batteries.

What I did was buy a decent replacement stereo for my car that came with a free ipod cable that runs to the glovebox, and I use the stereo to control the ipod. It sounds soo much better than the stock stereo, and it would power my older ipod but the newer ones it doesn't power (still controls and plays and displays track info)

You mean Monster as in Monster cables? Yeah, my CD player in my truck is a six disc changer and the information on the first one I linked said that it plugs right into the back of my stock stereo to give CD quality sound, and I can control the iPod with the stereo controls on my steering wheel. I may go this route, get cheap crap and you end up buying several to find one that actually works well, you may as well just get the right one right away.

OK, FM Transmitters SUCK. I went through three of them today and they are all static and stations bleed through. I returned them all and am ordering the $135 one damnit.

Damnit, so I was gonna order this thing today and on the bottom of the page it says, "not compatible with the Ford in dash six CD changer" which is what I have. So now I guess I'll search e-bay for a regular player that I can plug this thing into.

The Neo works great in my RDX with the iPhone. I enjoy the charging and steering wheel features. Unless your car has a aux input, the audio quality will suffer using the tape adapter or FM hookup.

The Griffiin is a great product, if you have an AUX IN on the dashboard and not worried about the handsfree features. It docks/charges the iPod and plays static free. This was my favorite accessory before I found the Neo.
