Well guys,

I just had my first tatuaje tubo verocu and the flavors were good but the damn thing blew up on me half way through. This is the first tatuaje cigar that I have had where the wrapper completely came off of the cigar. I know this is not due to my humidor conditions because everything else smokes perfect. Anyone else have the red verocu blow up on them??

I was lucky enough not to have a verocu tubo exploder. But I have had other smokes blow on me. Even a Tat west coast. With my experience cigars that are too wet crack and explode. I would suggest that you store some out of the tube, for a couple days, that you plan on smoking soon.

It seems that its been a tough year for some Tat smokers. Exploding cigars, varnish smells, some smokers were very childish when they could not get Dracs. I sure hope the future is better for this brand.

They'll be 1 less of that in 2010 (who has two thumbs).

Wow didn't see this thread before I posted one. I have the same problem. Mine are out of the tube and in the Humi. I inspected several of the others and the seams are already loose.

Yeah I removed all of my tubos tatuaje (both black and red label) out of the tubes immediately and put them in the humidor. The blacks seems to burn perfect and hold their own in build. However, the one red I smoked earlier today split immediately and never stopped.

I have had a red crack as well. I have smoked several blacks and reds and I have to say, half of the blacks were plugged and all but one of the reds smoked perfect and one had a very strange taste to it.

****DISCLAIMER****

I am not bashing, just sharing my experience! The cigars that did burn and smoke properly were amazing cigars! I smoke more Tats than any other brand right now.

I had a Black that was plugged and a red that was cracked when I bought it, when I smoked it the wrapper split and peeled apart. I have smoke 2 reds and 2 blacks one of each was horrible, the other smoked perfect. I think, well it seems obvious, the wrappers on the reds were to brittle. Oh well...

1) The Verocu wrapper has always been pretty fragile, even on the older ones (not as bad as the Guapos, but fragile)

2) A lot of the Tubos have had humidity issues. I was told that Pete held up shipments for a while recently in order to uncap and humidor them (can humidor be a verb?) for a few weeks to try to stabilize them.

I haven't had one yet (too cold here), but have been storing mine with the caps off for now. I figure by the time it warms up enough to have one they should be ready to go. Most reports I've heard on these Reds though is that they are GOOOOOD! I'm really excited, as the West/East are literally my favorite cigars on this planet.

I tried smoking a black, but it... wouldn't.... I'm not sure if it was too wet or if it was just bad construction, or both. It just wouldn't stay lit, and couldn't get it to burn right for the life of me. I haven't tried the red tubo yet, but something tells me it needs more time in my humidor!

I had a Black Tubo yesterday, my first Tat, that I bought and smoked at a B&M. Very tight draw and little smoke for 1st half. My initial thoughts were that it was plugged. I took another clip at the cap and it really didn't help that much. It was a bit of a struggle to smoke. It finally opened up and I nubbed it!

I just received 4 Reds that I bought from Otaku; They're going in the humi uncapped and will probably rest a few months before feelin the heat.

I tend to agree with Nate. My tubos showed up in good shape but the one red I smoked the wrapper started to come apart. The Tat West Coast I have had recently did the same thing. Fragile wrapper and an uncommonly cold winter imho seems to be the culprit. The rest of my tubos are being put to rest till it warms up to be on the safe side.
