Only thing I would say is Cubans WERE the benchmark for cigars. These days Domestic cigars are really on par with the Cubans in my opinion and many others share this view as well.Cuba is the benchmark for all cigars, period. In construction, blending style, as well as the flavor that cuban soil yields to the leaf cuba is unmatched.
All this talk about the cuban "hype" is nonsense.
When I first got started with cigar smoking I was so exciting after reading people talk about how they are by far the best cigars in the world. I was expecting to be blown away by some of the top Cuban cigars people were naming, though they were good, they didn't live up to my expectations for them. I was expecting them to be like 97-100's in ratings. Most were around 90-94 maybe.verb (used with object)
1. to stimulate, excite, or agitate.
2. to create interest in by flamboyant or dramatic methods; promote or publicize showily: a promoter who knows how to hype a prizefight.
3. to intensify (advertising, promotion, or publicity) by ingenious or questionable claims, methods, etc. (usually fol. by up ).
4. to trick; gull.
5. exaggerated publicity; hoopla.
6. an ingenious or questionable claim, method, etc., used in advertising, promotion, or publicity to intensify the effect.
7. a swindle, deception, or trick.
I was well aware you were having "fun" by ruining a "game" for everyone else.Nah, I think I was just picking PSD4 over lots of NCs in your "versus" thread. That was fun.
People should be able to share their opinions without the fear of being criticized or ridiculed by others. Just because someone is young doesn't mean they are less knowledgeable about things than you are.You are quite opinionated yourself, young man, and you're at times quite myopic when expressing them. Smoke what you like, like what you smoke.
Again you've misunderstood. It has nothing to do with what you like. Its how you behave. And a "snob" isn't the best word, I don't care for it but the whole "Cuban snob" does seem to be a common saying for those who feel "Cubans are superior to all other cigars and those who smoke Cubans are superior to those who do not".I happen to like Cubans, if that makes me a "snob" in your youthful eyes, so be it.
Not my intention.I was well aware you were having "fun" by ruining a "game" for everyone else.
My posse? No, my friends can pretty much think for themselves. But I guess the ones who agreed with me and disagreed with you make them my "posse" in your eyes. Most seemed to disagree with your "Rule of 3" for aging cigars, but since they disagree you say they "ridiculed" you. I wholeheartedly disagree....when you say that cigars have completed the aging process in 3 years, you may bring in some disagreement. Hey, you brought it up.Nickerson said:People should be able to share their opinions without the fear of being criticized or ridiculed by others. And to call me narrow minded is quite silly since I do a good bit of research before stating my opinions. Was like the whole debate over aging cigars where you and your posse blind sided me with some pretty unfriendly replies. My opinions aren't solely based on personal experience or what others have told me to say. I do a good bit of research and enjoy learning about cigars and thinking for myself. Which is actually quite the opposite of myopic.
I have NEVER said anything remotely close to "those who smoke Cubans are superior to those who do not". To imply I ever have, on any forum, is an outright lie. I don't disrespect ANYONE who prefers non-Cuban cigars simply for that fact. I am a true believer in "smoke what you like, like what you smoke". Respect is earned however, and I have seen disrespect from you on a number of occassions on a number of forums. Perhaps a bit of introspection is warranted here.Nickerson said:Again you've misunderstood. It has nothing to do with what you like. Its how you behave. Sorry but it just gets a tad annoying seeing someone constantly put down non-Cuban cigars and bring Cubans into every conversation which aren't even about Cuban. It is possible to disagree with someone without disrespecting someone.
Just to show that I don't disagree with you just for the sake of disagreement, I agree that much of the non-Cuban cigar industry has superior construction, and excellent quality. I happen to prefer the profiles of Cubans, but don't begrudge anyone who prefers NCs....does that make me a bad guy?4. to trick; gull.

Right....you have your say in public, but I should keep mine private? Have enough respect to allow me to respond to your impressions of me in the same forum as you have.Nickerson said:P.S.
I don't want this to turn into a trolling/spam fest so if you want to share your opinions on the topic or hear mine, PM me.
I apologize to all, I just don't care to have inaccurate "quotes" attributed to me.Keep it in PMs guys. This is childish, annoying, and waaaay off topic.
I think that is fair enough, and nothing has gotten out of hand.I apologize to all, I just don't care to have inaccurate "quotes" attributed to me.

Yup I was kidding! Haha good joke right? You are kidding right? this lables the non-cuban cigar world much more accurately.

"Cuban snob" does seem to be a common saying for those who feel "Cubans are superior to all other cigars and those who smoke Cubans are superior to those who do not".
I read fine, my young Brother. Now you read this....it is what police call "evidence". :headroll:Though your opinion is known to be extremely biased since you are a considerable Cuban Snob.
Wasn't my intent to start an arguement really. Drama just seems to follow IceHog. As you can see from my first post when someone said "I'm sorry it wasn't a Cuban" I simply said "I'm not" trying to encourage the cigar the thread author was talking about. You guys a buzz kill! Guy was just stoked about finding a new cigar he liked and you went and shit all over it. Grow up ya marys.
You just proved me right. Look at what is bolded in second quote "those who FEEL" not "those who SAY". You clearly feel Cuban cigars are superior to all other cigars and you've gone to great length to share this with us all.I read fine, my young Brother. And WTF with the attacks?! You, sir, need that cigar aforementioned. You just proved me right. Look at what is bolded in second quote "those who FEEL" not "those who SAY". You clearly feel Cuban cigars are superior to all other cigars and you've gone to great length to share this with us all.
Grow up old man.
Stick to the forum you moderate and stop trolling other forums to cause drama. It gets old man. Like you.
