So, we were talking about this at the cigar shop on Sat and again yesterday, so I thought I'd pose the question. Do you prefer Liga 9 fresh or with age on it. I know JD prefers them fresh, but I am a bigger fan of this stick with some time on it. Any thought?

Hmm. That's a tough one Rich. I like them both fresh and with age. I've only had one that was OR and it was so long ago I can't truely remember a big difference. However I have had one with a year on it and I thought it burned better than a fresh one did.

I agree with JD, when they are fresh they are stunning but I prefer them with a little age on them myself.

Wouldn't you like to know?
Have never enjoyed a fresh liga. But some aged ones have been great. I understand it is all about preferance but flavours on liga do not usually work for me.

I think they taste great fresh and with age on them. I have 5 toro's stashed away when they were first released and when the weather gets warmer here in WI I will have to pull one out and smoke it and see how it tastes.

i agree with JD. I love them Fresh. when they age the coffee side comes out a bit more and i feel that it throws them out of balance.

To be honest I have never let a LP No. 9 get any age on 'em. Once they get in my humi they are in mortal danger :eyebrow:
You might want to hide one out and save it from mortal danger. At least a few months or a year.

Ive got some nines with a year or so on them so it may be time to find out which I prefer. I also have one nine piggie left which may be ignited soon.

I like them with age kinda. The pre-release no.9's from the cabs of 50 are smoking great right now. A wonderful treat. The first release of the 9 pigs are really good as well. Now the T-52 pigs I think need to rest for awhile but the corna dobles and toros are great ROTT for me. I also like the Rats fresh FWIW.

Interesting posts. We are very fortunate that you guys enjoy them so much, period.

BTW - it is true that I definitely prefer the Liga No. 9's straight out the box, as they have been pulled from the aging room when Saka, Nickolas and I feel that they are ready. In the beginning we waited a set time, then we reduced the time, then we moved to a "when they are ready" system. Plenty of my friends completely disagree with me, and prefer to age them an additional 6 months cause the beauty of the No.9 is the earthy balance, which is always reinforced with some time.

However, the T52's are awesome for me with a 6 month age on them (after boxed and shipped).

Hope some of you guys can make the www.nicaraguancigarfestival.com trip. As you may know, in addition to the many, many events and stuff, there will be a "Limited Edition Evening" that PJ will be hosting at the DE factory dinner. All of the companies are hard at work prepping their LE's and there are going to be some great ones for sure.

Anyway, bed time.
JD
