The event release stuff has been beaten to death a few times in many many threads. If you have a hot brand you want to create the draw for revenue...IF I was the hot brand I and I was asked to make something special I would probably oblige the request because it would mean future sales.

If you don't like the chase, blame the B&M's

Is it really even a chase, though? It seems like if you take the 5 minutes to call or email retailers as soon as you hear about a release, you'll probably get some. I haven't had any trouble getting a LE release that I wanted yet.

is it really going to be called the zombie?
Way to go Pete. No need to respond to this childish prodding. What does Zombie have to do with Tatuaje anyway? Nothing. You guys just like to start trouble. Smoke in peace my friends. :cbig:
Really? Considering Andre hasn't had an original idea yet, i think it has plenty to do with Tatuaje, but what do I know, I'm just the childish guy ion the board.

Maybe it's my poor timing for more often than not, I'm late to the game and the product is all accounted for.

That is why if something is released here in my neck of the woods I will pick up extras to gift or trade on here.

Yes, but are you smoking ideas or cigars? I'll gladly smoke the Tatuaje Turd or the Viaje Shitstick if it's a good cigar. The real question is why would you base your judgement on a cigar no one has even smoked yet on the "idea" behind it? In that case, I've got some GREAT ideas for cigars that I'll trade you for actual cigars! Not saying you are dprice, just saying in general...

Figure of speech...but it does lean towards a race to get it first, hence the chase.
I see your point. I guess I just vigilantly check news sources, so I always jump on things right away, thus, it doesn't feel like a race or chase to me.

A long time ago Pete said:

Andre has a good award winning product made for him that many people enjoy and sells out very quickly. My only problem is how he chooses to sell the product. You can still make a great cigar without slinging bull. He doesn't need it, so I am not sure why he is doing it.

Cuz he can, and because it works? I think it's kinda funny.

Can't wait for Andre's next release; a benefit for his bank account - no charities here my friends. The project shall be dubbed: "Angels and Demons."

I say live and let live. If you don't want to chase the LE's then don't, but don't make a stink about it when they are released. I don't chase Viaje LE's except for back when the S&B came out. I do like Viaje smokes... I think anything out of that factory in terms of quality of construction and flavor rivals anything Pepin is doing imvho. I'll say this, I don't think Andre has anything to do with this.. again my very humble opinion.

His "concepts" aren't very creative and if I was Pete or Dion I'd be a little ticked off. All we can do as individual consumers is to decide whether to spend the money or not, whether the "concept" is bull**** or not. The wallet is the final decision maker, and in that regards Andre is doing very well.

I don't think the 50/50 is that great an idea. I think it's a way for him to sell tobacco scraps at a premium price. After all, the cigar is nothing more than a medium filler stick made from scraps of two different blends. The Satori is kinda original... but really hijacked the beautiful religion which is Buddhism. He seriously does not understand the concept of enlightment from interviews I've seen about his reasoning behind the line. And at the prices he charges for it? It's anything but altruism.

That's like blaming spoons for making people fat.

Seriously? You're blaming the store owners? Really?

No, blaming a select niche group that would like to capitalize on a good thing, but the blame really should land on the person that's suffers from that "got to have it" mentality.

Spoons don't make people fat, the food on the spoon does. Everyone knows that.

And the "Boutique" makers aren't even remotely guilty of this??

Come on, what flavor is the KoolAid you're drinking over there??

Know what the Number 1 selling cigar in the US is?

MACANUDO.

Agreed! You can't blame store owners for wanting nothing more than to stay in business.
Boutique cigars do NOT keep B&M stores OPEN. The TOP SELLING Brands do.

Hate the term koolaid.

Customers keep B&M's open.

I don't really see the parallel between mac's and boutique. My grandfather smoked Mac's and I doubt he or his generation would feverishly pund away at the keyboard trying to find the latest release for some B&M. It's a small group that hunts the LE's that also is part of the larger group that gives General Cigar it's huge market share.

Didn't wait several months to log back into the board to argue.

Wow. Just wow. Enjoy your KoolAid. General Cigar was bought out in 2005.

Customers keep B&M's open.
Pay attention -

Boutique cigars do NOT keep B&M stores OPEN. The TOP SELLING Brands do.

The "internet cigar community" isn't even a FACTOR.
