I carried a Gerber E-Z Out for, I don't know how many, years. I know it wasn't known for it's edge, and has mixed reviews as an inexpensive work knife. In that role, I liked it very much. I used it daily, and it stood up to it. I did some fitting to accommodate a southpaw, and smoothed it up. Well, I lost it over the summer, so I dug out a few oldies and bought a couple new ones. I've been carrying the utility knife to work lately, as it's much more acceptable where I work. The Utilitac is new. It's been my regular carry outside of work since I got it. I like it. It's not as big or cumbersome as it looks in the front pocket of a pair of jeans. I haven't starting carrying to KABAR yet, but I think it may become my favorite when I do. It needs the thumb hole edge smoothed a little. The others I just rotate through on occasion or for lighter attire.

I have different version of the KABAR and i love it. weighs nothing, will handle any edc task you throw at it and holds a solid edge even when cutting cardboard and easy to sharpen. Best is that it only cost $20 so won't break the bank if you happen to lose it.

I've meant to post here but whenever I saw it I never had a place to show mine lol. Nothing special but it's been amazing and stayed sharp for the 7 years I've had it.

GoingPostal, I saw your post at the beginning of this thread, and it was a factor in me purchasing a KA-BAR. I think the thumb hole, as opposed to a thumb stud, is the main difference between your knife and the one I bought. I found it on sale, and it was very inexpensive. I've always had a soft spot for KA-BAR knives, since having acquired a WWII Marine Fighting Knife years ago.

Love my ZT 301. It is big, heavy, durable, sharp, snd ergonomic.
Knife porn! :) Not a deterring factor from carrying it, but a prosecutor in the wrong state would have a field day with the way these look if you ever have to defend yourself with it.
Unless there is some precedent you're aware of that I'm not, I highly doubt that.
I've never heard of a good self-defense case that was turned around based on the aesthetics of the weapon used.

Zero Tolerance knives are actually utility folders made for heavy duty use. Of course the can be used for self defense also...

My EDCs when I carry a knife. Benchmade Mini-Barage with a nice paper wheeled edge, a Microtech Combat Troodon OTF Auto, and a ZT350. I keep an older Japanese tanto partial serrations blade SOG Vision with titanium scales in the car in case I need to be free of my seat belt at some point or I forget to bring something with me.
