Opus have a very different flavor. They are a Dominican Puro. There aren't that many Dominican Puro's on the market because it's difficult to grow the wrapper leaf in the DR. The best I can describe it is like how most Cuban cigars have a certain twang to them because they are Cuban Puros, that's similar to how it is with Dominican Puro's with a different twang. And Opus is the top of the line in the Dominican Puro category.

I also must say that you need to retrohale Opus. I don't get a ton of flavor in my mouth. The key is the flavor you get through your nose on these.

Not sure where you are looking at buying, but I would wait and find them at a price close to the actual MSRP. Instead of buying from somewhere that always has them in stock but double the price.

Smoke one once they get acclimated and see what you think. Then smoke another in a year or so and decide if you want to get more unless you fall in love with the first one. I don't smoke a ton of Opus so usually a tin of 3 is enough for me to have one and lay the other two down while I smoke my aged stuff. Do that once or twice a year and you'll have some nice aged stock built up before you know it.

Opus isn't for everyone, but are worth trying to see what you think. I have enjoyed the few that I have smoked and have about 20 that I am aging that have about 15 months on them so far. I am going to have another one at 2 years and see how they are doing. If you want a little milder smoke, Angels Share would be a good one to try.
