Welcome back, Mike. How's it feeling?
Like I haven't seen the inside of a gym in two years. lol

Honestly not as bad as I expected. I'm running a push/pull/full body split and four sets of eight. I expected to feel fried, but a little stretching is all I've needed.

Stiff Leg Dead
Split Squat
Dips
Pull ups
Y's
Preacher Curl
Tricep extension

I am embarrassed by how weak I have become and I learned that stiff leg dead lifts mess with with my balance.

I have to stop judging my workouts based on what I could do and accept the new reality.

Things have changed so much in the last few years. I can't lift the weights I once did, so I've found other ways to ramp up the intensity and keep things semi-fresh.
Since it has been so long, I'm getting the intensity. Plus, each week I lose a little more of the nervousness and doubt. Plus the neurological pathways are waking up again. So, I'm taking solace in big newbie jumps in strength.

The break is super necessary as we advance in life. I ended up with ten days straight of gym and work. I did not miss a day, but I slept like eleven hours after that.

An average day at work is 16,000 steps. My routine right now is 5x5 on the compound lifts and 4 sets of 8 on accessories. So, the intensity might be a bit high for just starting back.

I definitely agree, Mike, my training has gone from 6 days a week to 5, that extra rest day helps the recovery at this age. My sunburn and plans with family will keep me out another couple days. I'm already hungry to get back, so it should be fun to get back in.

I'm not surprised your intensity is up there, Mike, sometimes it's hard not to go balls out. I'll be conscious of that whn I start back up either Saturday or Monday.

The stairwells at work have these shin high bars to prevent people from storing stuff underneath the stairs. Each landing also has enough of a u in the hand rail to do elevated pushups using the rail.

Ground floor five wide pushups
1st landing five pushups and back down
Ground floor five wide pushups
1st landing five close grip
2nd landing five close grip and back down
Repeat for five landings without stopping
