my girlfriend Lora took my truck to a local garage for new tires and and oil change. i figured since a local place i would give them the biz. well tires are good. when they did the oil change they forgot to put the drain plug back in the oil pan. no how Fn stupid are they? they couldnt see the oil pouring out of the motor when they did it. they took the truck out of the garage and lora proceded to drive home and then the truck shut down. By then the garage called and said could you come back we forgot to do something. well yea since the truck shut off. she got it back to the garage and they put the drain plug back and more oil since it lost everything. the next day i get all kind of warning lights coming on and a noise coming form the motor. i checked the oil and it was full. i stopped at the garage and told them and in a not so nice way that they fucked up my truck. sooo i drove the truck home and it shut down again and wouldnt start and had to have it towed home. by this time i was really pissed off. i was in touch with the owner of the company and told them about everything. so i went 3 days with no vehicle and their insurance company got a hold of me and told that i could take it where ever i wanted to get looked at. so i had it towed again to a local dodge dealer that i knew of and trusted. in the mean time my work had a spare company car and i borrowed that so i can get back and forth to work. Their insurance company took my statement and the garages statement and they admitted their screw up, so then it went back to their insurance company to review,, i am thinking, what is there to review, they screwed up, get me a dam loaner and fixed my Fn truck. plain and simple. So the dodge dealer looked at my truck and it needs a new motor and now their insurance company is paying to having it fixed, me a rental truck. Hopefully this week i will have my truck back after 5 weeks of not having it. what a crock of shit. The insurance company was trying to get a reman motor, i said no way in a not so nice manner, that they couldnt do that due to it would void my power train warranty that i have left on it since the truck is an 2011 dodge ram with the 5.7 hemi. Now they are getting a new motor from dodge. All because this asshole didnt do his job right. Now since then the mechanic has called the police on Lora saying she is driving by and giving the finger and cussing at them, which he hasnt done, she explained everything to the state police and they said it sounds like the guy is pissed about it, i thought well he should be damn lucky he has a job. I get on the phone with the owner and wasnt very nice at all, I told her that if this shit keeps up they will be hearing from my lawyer and i will sue them for all this harrasment. this place has really pushed my jack ass button. what a joke, the owner said that this will stop and i said it had better or look out. i am not being nice about it. so beacuse of this their mistake, its costing them over 7 grand for my truck the tow bills and my rental. which is nice they got a 2016 ford f150. sharp truck but i just want my dodge ram back.

Keep in mind that it was a mistake...although negligent, it wasn't purposeful or malicious. You'll feel better when you have a new motor in the truck.

Sorry to hear all of this. Its a jacked up situation for sure and I am sure I would have handled things the same way you did. I am glad in the end they ended up paying to put everything right for you. And the mechanic sounds like a petty guy. Keep your head up though, things will come back around, they always do!

Pete, I'm really sorry to hear about this. I know how much you love that truck. A friend of mine had the same thing happen to his mustang, where the engine just locked up after he left. I always scratch my head at places that make this mistake, and you have every right to be angry about it.

And, it should be obvious, but I'm sure Pete's not out for blood, he just wants to be made whole again. Pete is one of the nicest guys I've met, and trust me, it takes a lot to get him angry. Any time you have to go through a process like this, it's frustrating to have to deal with,
A. the insurance company
B. The business
C. The cops

Everyone try's to protect their own and ignore your concerns.

I understand saying it will get taken care of, but you're stuck asking "when", and it's even worse when you are 0% negligent. I'd love to see someone go through this process and keep their cool. Especially when you have to fight to get it resolved.

Sorry to hear about your woe's Pete. Luckily it is going to work out in the end and you'll have a brand new engine to boot! I've had plenty of issues like that before with a dealer nonetheless! I about loaded up and headed down there, luckily I calmed down and took my business elsewhere after charge-backing their no good ass.

This same thing happened to my wife's family. The "mechanic" forgot to put oil in and just took the old oil out. They got the car home and the same thing happened, the engine seized up. Long story short the mechanic didn't admit fault and completely went out of business a few days later. My wife's family was stuck with an extremely heavy (and expensive) paperweight. Thankfully they were about due for a new car. It's a dumb mistake that should never happen. I don't trust mechanics to change oil anymore and I have been doing it myself recently. At least you got your truck fixed and the mechanic cooperated. Good Luck brother, and I hope everything works out!.

Sorry to hear it bro! I get my oil changed at the dealer because the car is still under warranty but I'm very anal about my cars. When I go to get it I look around it for damage and under it too because stuff like this happens a lot more than some people think. A friend bought a brand new BMW and the first oil change this happens! Good luck bro!

Any time you put your car in the hands of another it is a good idea to check it out. I once had a valet company drive out half a tank of gas in my Cadillac. I'm glad I had my receipt showing I filled up five minutes before I dropped off the car.

My brother ran a shop and changed his oil reguarly. However, he took it to the dealer for waranty work and scheduled maintenance. After one trip the dealer said his waranty was void because he didn't change the oil. The mechanic pulled out the dip stick and it was covered in burnt oi with metal shavings. They had replaced the fresh oil (changed the day before) with waste oil. Agains, receipts were the only saving grace. They had to change the oil, and after a couple of weeks dealing with the corporate office (large chain) they replaced the engine to avoid a law suit.

Pete, sorry you had aLl that trouble. Glad it's working out.

Too bad it wasn't 149k, lol... it would make all this much more worthwhile!

About a year or 2 ago, I had the display screen go out on my Pontiac. Turns out it was the "computer" that stored info that was bad, and among that info was my mileage - so when they replaced it with a salvaged unit, it took about 80k off my odometer... (y)

Which is why I change my own oil! But...not everyone has the wherewithal to do that.

Regarding negative comments, I reckon that's the risk one takes when taking a private problem to a public forum.

Which is why I never do that. Is why I have my pal's to whine to. Thataway they can tell me STFU.

Right to my face...
