It's funny, when I have people up my ass about "We HAVE to get this location", or "We MUST park our trucks here", I usually tell them about how we're not saving lives and just playing pretend. It's fascinating to hear about people's bad work days though, much needed perspective.

A bad day for me is getting beer sprayed on me .
I can remember when that was a good day.
I don't have it that bad. Though a bad day for me before I went to college and began working in the brewing industry was completely different. It would have been a bad day with explosives. I found beer much less deadly and thus attractive plus I like drinking it.

Auditor here.
My bad day is a day spent spinning my wheels on one problem and making no progress. All the while, fielding emails from my superiors asking dumb questions or questions about things way less important than what I am working on. Then, coming home only to spend the entire night still working only to get up the next day and do it again........
Frick. I need a smoke.
I know this pain. I used to be an IT auditor for one of the Big 4. I had many nights where I'd go to bed at 1:30AM think "I should probably keep working" and get up and get back at it. A year and a half ago I left client service and now work in IT Governance for one of the big financial service companies in the secondary mortgage market. While bad days were the norm before, now they are pretty rare but usually involve tasks with a short notice, tight deadline, and unclear instructions/purpose/goal. After spending the day spinning my wheels on a task like this while unable to get clarification on what it is I'm really being asked for, it is inevitable that my hour and fifteen minute commute becomes two plus hours...

It used to be going into work. Or actually stressing when I took off. Now that I've switched groups, the only bad days are when my experiments fail, and ill take that any day.

I like this thread because to be honest I need a place to vent before I erupted and got nasty.

So I am an accountant. Going to school to finish my designation getting my hours in everything. So my position has been practise and training to take my boss' job over. Been getting lots of new work and my boss and I had a great relationship very open and great working together.

Then the blindside happens. 2 weeks ago we get an email at 4:23pm I finish at 4:30. This email is stating my boss is retiring and a new guy is starting the next day. There I sit dick in my hand mouth on the floor.

Well now they treat me like a social lepord and now they are taking everything from me.

Bad day for me, is when DTGW doesn't help me keep engines from failing. So I have pretty awesome days at work. Dealing with Aircraft engines daily is a lot if fun and work. Can't complain. It pays to be able to enjoy good Cigars with good friends.

I am a television news photographer. A bad day for me is leaving the morning news meeting with my assignment knowing no matter what I do with this particular story, I will not be happy with the end product. (this happens quite often) Really bad day would be knocking on the front door of someone who just lost a loved one to (fill in the blank...car accident, murder, what have you) and asking if they would like to do a tv interview for the local news about their loved one.

And it is kind of fun reading about other peoples bad days. Is that a bad thing?

A bad day at work for me is not being able to finish my cigar....
Damn. That's a tough life brother lol. :)
X2. I'm lucky if I can get away from my micromanager for enough time to smoke.
Ugh Micromanagers suck balls! I feel your pain and it hurts BAD!!!

A bad day for me is when we receive in 300,000 plus lbs of material but ship nothing out. Or when we have 12 trucks on the schedule and 4 more show up that are not scheduled.
Or when you start your day with no floor space to put your first of 12 loads but you still have to get the material in the door. Oh ya I'm living the dream. Lol

Micromanagers ROCK! Mine tells me what to do in broad strokes, and tells me to do "what's best for the corporation" for the details. I do just that and he tells me I did it wrong. So, I ask him what he wants, he tells me to do what's best for the corporation. It's a viscous cycle man!!!

It doesn't help that he's an idiot.

They interviewed him and everything out of office so I wouldn't know. We all talk about bus drivers here and throwing ppl under the bus well this was being smashed by a bus.

This latest job site I'm on. It both eats up every bit of my time and parts of my soul.
Quickly losing my mind, and I've still got 2-3 more weeks there.

This thread has been great to read. Okay, flip the script. What's your good day at work like?

For me, I wouldn't be scouting. Company will be filming. I wake up at 4am to be on set at 4:30am, before anyone arrives. Land the caterers and all the trucks. Get signs up so everyone knows where they are going when they arrive (we actually have turn by turn maps, but yeah, we still hang road signs so people don't get lost.) Almost all the crew arrives without a problem, gear load in to set is smooth. Leave my assistants at set, and find where to park all the trucks, trailers, personal vehicles, and food trucks for the next week. Make it home by 7pm.

Its pathetic, but working 14+ hours a day with minor hiccups and no down time is awesome for me. And I get overtime.

What's your good day at work like?
