Hey Griz, I got the same one!- arrived the other day. Do yourself a favor- run a pipe cleaner with a little everclear through that stem before you smoke it. Let me know what you find when you do. I ALWAYS do this with any NEW pipe I buy. Let me know.

Can I do this using a overproof rum(120 to 151 proof)? Or is Everclear an even higher proof alcohol?
You can but you might taste it in your smokes. I prefer everclear because it's so high in proof that evaporates quickly and has no taste.
And a little drink of it and everything is good!
It only kinda burns the lining off the inside of your mouth.

Same here. Can really see myself getting in to that brown whiskey barrel poker!
Dagner said its good as a break-time pipe. 15 minutes or so. My poker from them is a good value I felt.
I use rum, I don't have any ever clear and I use/stole a little of the wife's rum. I'll clean it tonite and with any luck burn it tomorrow. It is really light and it feels very nice in my mouth just hanging...
I like to make my own .....shine...... But just to clean my pipes
