Was the CQ1 a box press? Can't remember now...Pete Johnson has said that a box press can change the cigar. I believe he stated this with the CQ1. Comparing it to the Little Boris. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, tastes great but freakishly thin. That being said, I had my first Norteno last week and it did kind of freak me out. It was so flat it almost felt like I was smoking a tongue depressor.
They actually draw quite well. The box press though basically disappears as soon as you get past the first third, it just kinds swells back into a normal shape as you smoke it.WTF? Wouldn't that just constrict the draw in the middle?
Yes, a slight one.Was the CQ1 a box press? Can't remember now...
I wonder if tobacco rolled into a paper football would smoke...As long as they smoke well and have good flavor I don't care if it is in the shape of a triangle.

There's always the Opus football (though not a triangle).I wonder if tobacco rolled into a paper football would smoke...
I was thinking box pressed cigars though different, look normal enough, until I saw this!View attachment 56424
this. all the factory press lfd's have always boggled my mind. can't get more extreme than that. not my pic, but look at this thing. lol. the only one that's ever bothered me is that alec bradley diamond...it's a box-press, but it just looks wrong to me.
I think in some cases a box pressing can have quite an effect on a blend. I think the MF Le Bijou 1922 Box Pressed Torpedo is just an amazing smoke, and while I do like some of the other round vitolas, they just aren't the same. This could also be a vitola thing, not a bp thing, or it could be the torpedo head.Honestly... I hate the concept of box pressed cigars.
Now, some box pressed cigars are really, really good, and some of my favorites are box pressed -the Padron 80th comes to mind. But to me that's just the quality of the blend, and I can help wondering how much more I'd enjoy a round version of the same cigar.
Just looked it up on google. Pretty sweet, indeed. I didn't know a figurado could be box pressed like that. Definitely WAY more aesthetic than that quesada abomination.Iconic Leaf makes a cigar line called Recluse. One of their special sizes is called the Kanu, it's a box pressed perfecto. It's a neat looking cigar though.
I'm not proud to admit it but I've actually smoked one of those. Burned much better than I thought it would.Drew Estate Natural "The Egg"
