Day 1: Lost City
Day 2: Fausto
Day 3: La Riqueza
Day 4: Cabaiguan Guapos

Super salty.. Similar grassiness to what I found in the Fausto lance, but a lesser degree. Not as smooth as the Fausto or the La Riqueza (yes, I will review all 10 from the Tat sampler this month).

Construction is superb. Anyone know how many rollers they used on these? The draw is exactly where I like it -- slight resistance with a medium/full pack and no soft spots. The other two were the same. Consistency rocks.

Believe it or not this is my first Cabaiguan of any kind, as I normally enjoy Tats for their full body, and these are lighter in the line.

If there are shifts I will update this post as I go.
Glad to see you working through the Tat Sampler. I was hoping someone would do that. I remember trying the Cabiguan when the sampler came out and thinking that it wasn't my cup of tea, much like every other Cabiguan I've tried. Different strokes for different folks!! I have no answer to your question on the rollers, which is interesting because normally those blends are rolled in at least 2 different factories. Good question, I'd be interested if anyone had insight on this.

That's alright if I unload on anything, it's going to be the Ortega's.. I am exerting every shred of will power I have though.

Today's smoke is: Epicurian Carnavale Lancero (box press)

Spicy, earthy, a bit creamy with a backdrop of a wine like sweetness and nuts. Great draw and burn with a consistent blend that stays interesting throughout my smoke session. Smoke time 1hr 40mins (90)
Sorry, had to do this...

I agree with your assessment of the cabaiguan.

Got this from Chefboy back in September. Been tempted to smoke it for a while, but decided to hang on until February. It has one of the glossy-est wrappers I have ever seen. A nice shiny sheen to it. It started out nice, flavor, burn, smoke output... Then the relights. Flavor tapered off and I started to get a cough syrup taste. Not terrible, but not a flavor I look for. After a few relights about 5/8 of the way in it plugged up on me. I mu'd the rest. Not a bad cigar, but not something I'll be in search of a Detroit mule over either.

Day 1: Lost City
Day 2: Fausto
Day 3: La Riqueza
Day 4: Cabaiguan Guapos
Day 5: La Casita Criolla

Based on the few (two?) Tat LCCs I have smoked, I was not expecting much from the lance. I've been disappointed by the Fausto and the Guapos, and thought the Ricky was phenomenal. This is in the middle, but very enjoyable.

It's a very slightly lighter pack than the others so far, but again the construction is superior. Wrapper aroma and cold draw were hay and some light spice. First third is pleasantly smooth and sweet. Already know I'd smoke this again. It smokes exactly like the cold draw, and it's the fastest of the 4 Tat lances thus far (Fausto being slowest and most dense). We'll see if this gets any more complex.

Nice! The LCC was the first I had smoked of the sampler a while back. I went in with medium expectations, but this far exceeded them. I thought the blend fared wonderfully with the vitola. Can't wait to smoke another later this month..!

This one was spot on today with beverage of choice today being Founder's Backwoods Bastard. What a combo! Cigar burned beautiful with no touches up required from lit to nub. Solid pepper blast up front and developed into a nice leather and nutty(think Bazil nuts) during the first 1/2. Strength increase a bit in second half continuing with the nuttiness with a hint of cocoa with the pepper in the background. Last bit of cigar was more of the same with a little cloves or allspice kicking in. Made my afternoon. Near 50 degrees and sunny. This is not the prettiest cigar around. The wrapper is not at all shiny and has some big veins but this is one tasty stick.

The planets of Work, Weather and Chores finally aligned and I got well stuck into Lancero February today.
Went with an unbanded review stick from @3/5King that's been resting in my cooler since June/July last year.

Beautiful milk chocolate brown wrapper with a twist at the end of a well applied triple cap. Not an awful lot of aroma off the foot but cold draw reveals a bit of a tang on the tongue.

First 7 or 8 draws deliver a huge amount of fruity tang and drop it right on my tongue and then draw all of a sudden tightens up...
Another cut and I'm back in, the tang is gone and been replaced by a creamy, nutty flavour.

Nuts and cream continues in the second third but the stick is developing a slight tunnel which affects the draw again ever so slightly. Further I get in the more the nuts and cream subside to leave a slight floral note.

Final third and the draw opens up beautifully and the smoke production ramps up, which is great because the smell off this thing at rest is amazing, the same floral note but just tickles your nose rather than coating your tongue.

I really enjoyed this lance, minor draw issues aside and I also enjoyed doing my first review, made me concentrate much more on what I was tasting. Burn was fantastic throughout and the flavours morphed very slowly which I think helped me pick up on them. As for what I think it was, well, the bravest I'm willing to go is to say I'm pretty sure its Dominican, or at least predominantly Dominican.

Thanks for stick Dave!

Hell yes! Nice job on your first review! That would be the Trinidad Reserva Lancero (NC) (I'm pretty sure... It's been quite awhile lol) that is the best deal I've gotten on a cigar box ever.. 28 bucks on CBid... They weren't much at first but age wonderfully! And for 1.40 a stick. I'm glad you liked it.
