The planets of Work, Weather and Chores finally aligned and I got well stuck into Lancero February today.
Went with an unbanded review stick from
@3/5King that's been resting in my cooler since June/July last year.
Beautiful milk chocolate brown wrapper with a twist at the end of a well applied triple cap. Not an awful lot of aroma off the foot but cold draw reveals a bit of a tang on the tongue.
First 7 or 8 draws deliver a huge amount of fruity tang and drop it right on my tongue and then draw all of a sudden tightens up...
Another cut and I'm back in, the tang is gone and been replaced by a creamy, nutty flavour.
Nuts and cream continues in the second third but the stick is developing a slight tunnel which affects the draw again ever so slightly. Further I get in the more the nuts and cream subside to leave a slight floral note.
Final third and the draw opens up beautifully and the smoke production ramps up, which is great because the smell off this thing at rest is amazing, the same floral note but just tickles your nose rather than coating your tongue.
I really enjoyed this lance, minor draw issues aside and I also enjoyed doing my first review, made me concentrate much more on what I was tasting. Burn was fantastic throughout and the flavours morphed very slowly which I think helped me pick up on them. As for what I think it was, well, the bravest I'm willing to go is to say I'm pretty sure its Dominican, or at least predominantly Dominican.
Thanks for stick Dave!
