Trust me, it pains me to say it, but I acquired a handful of these and they have all been phenomenal. There is definitely a stylistic difference -- they have relatively lower bitterness (hops added toward the end of the boil for flavor, not so much at the beginning for bitterness, I'm guessing...) and more of that tropical fruit thing going on -- whereas west coast IPAs are 'dank'...green and vegetal and bitter, with citrus-y notes but not a whole lot of the mango/passionfruit/pineapple stuff. And they manage to get that creamy mouthfeel that stouts have, especially these Trillium beers. Seriously, if you can get your hands on some, by all means do. I'm very impressed. I still love the enamel-peeling west coast alpha assault, but these are almost a style unto themselves.

Good descriptors but i love a good crisp citrusy west coast style and not a fan of, as you would say, "creamy mouthful" in an IPA. I love it in stouts but not so much IPAs. But then again, i havent tried those so probably not fair for me to say either way. Lol

Man i guess kinda like cigars I love them all
The citrusy triple ruin ten from stone or the bright floral Westbrook iPa all the way to the chewy DFH 120. They all have a time and place

The last of the nice weather is supposed to end in the next couple days and it's making me sad that good smoking on the porch is drawing to a close. So I decided to give it a send off. I dove headfirst into some goodies bombed to me my @mistaforty . Thanks brother!
First off while pouring I noticed this.

That's serious business right there

Ok just a disclaimer, I don't have an overly refined palette and I'm not a writer. But I wanted to share some thoughts.

I was surprised by the beer a little bit. It actually has a sweet taste to the start of it, but is followed up by that nice dark stout flavor which carries through the after taste. I really like it, I think it adds a nice bit of complexity to a good dark beer.
The bonus is so far the first third of the El Centurion has a sweet flavor with some spice secondary. It's really going well with the sweet flavors in the beer. I'm really glad that I paired these two together out of the sticks and beers I was sent.
This is making for a great evening. If this is the last good porch smoke of the winter, this is a good way to end the season.

LOL, I didn't say 'creamy mouthful' exactly, although 'creamy mouthfeel' may not be much better. Anyway, if you're ever in Boston or have a chance to try Trillium, I think you'll like it.
