Still watching Beryl. Looks like a Texas Mexico border landfall but the cone keeps moving north and is over Houston and LA state line now. Willing to bet it kind of rides along the coast north and east bringing us some tropical weather mid next week. Similar to last year this high pressure system and its oppressive heat is protecting us for now

If the high pressure stays where it is I'm not worried, a bit of rain and wind would be welcome, If the high moves and depending on the direction it moves the storm will follow. We never quit watching until they fall apart well inland.

This time of year I feel like I'm watching an endless stream of commercials about Peyronie's disease. Talking about the curve!

Yep, slowing down, strengthening, moving more east, Gulf is hot as hell. @Texican time to make sure you have cash in a safe place, fuel in the vehicles and that the chain saw runs. 3 days from a possible landfall is a lifetime when talking about these things.

Gotta gas up the cars tonight. Otherwise we have about two week's worth of bottled water, pantry is stocked, and freeze-dried food/water purification to go a couple months if need be. Still need a generator...but at least hydrated/fed and miserably hot is better than hungry/thirsty and miserably hot. Plus...lots of bourbon.

That said...man I hope we don't get any fallout from this. After the tornado fun, we need a break.

Looks like more storms all week. The rain is good, but damage aint.
At this point a little damage might be worth it. Over 75% of the state is in drought, the corn crop is basically ruined, and the tobacco crops are considered a loss in most areas.

Edit: Just saw this on a local news page.
"The drought in North Carolina has worsened, with 99.98% of the state now in a drought or experiencing abnormally dry conditions."

Yeah, we use to be considered one of the world's only temperate rain forests. But now. . .

We'll be praying for you and Texas. Hope it comes in further south and weaker than it's looking right now.

Thanks! Last time we had a hurricane hit solidly (Harvey), I got an airboat ride to the middle of my front yard and saw fish swimming around the mailbox.  Hoping for a somewhat less exciting scenario this season.

This hurricane is doing some crazy stuff. Looks like a significant part of it broke off and is heading north. Fortunately looks like it will stay a relatively weak storm going into the Corpus Christi area.
Aaahhh....Corpus Chisti. Land of many uses...Vacation Wonderland...God's Country...

Maybe the biggest impact will be flat boats in the streets of Houston. If they get 6+ inches of rain it will be a mess.

Time to keep an eye out for the next one.
