Yep.1) The Verocu wrapper has always been pretty fragile, even on the older ones (not as bad as the Guapos, but fragile)
2) A lot of the Tubos have had humidity issues. I was told that Pete held up shipments for a while recently in order to uncap and humidor them (can humidor be a verb?) for a few weeks to try to stabilize them.
I haven't had one yet (too cold here), but have been storing mine with the caps off for now. I figure by the time it warms up enough to have one they should be ready to go. Most reports I've heard on these Reds though is that they are GOOOOOD! I'm really excited, as the West/East are literally my favorite cigars on this planet.
