If you get in a bind and need to sell some wine, let me know. I used to have a wine shop and know a few people who might be buyers for some good bottles.

Good luck
um, i think by vino he may of meant fridge, not actual wine.

Taking it day by day. What makes me sad is 3-4 people from our dept crossed already.

yeah I was thinking of crossing, but not during week 1... I have about 3 weeks worth of money saved...

Been there, done that. Was shop steward through 2 contract negotiations. Second one was a 8 week strike. Told them it was a raw deal, but striking meant losing money you'll never re-coup. They settled and got pennies. I left after that for a better job.

Good luck!

heading to the end of week 2 now....no progress...has a rally, no less than 20 organizations stopped to show their support today

Edit: if you look you can see an 858 in my pocket. I was talking to a guy with a cigar about my vinodor and he asked if I wanted one.....wish I would have given him something in return

I know just where you are coming from I have been a USWA Local 40 for a number of years. We were out for about 8 mths in about 1999 and by the end things got really ugly and some people got scared about losing everything they had and signed a contract worse than the original offer 8 mths prior. These large companies can just wait you out and the average guy has got to pay bills

Thanks to all my brothers and sisters that supported me and stood by me over these last 2 weeks. As of tuesday we are returning to work under the old contract since the company is finally bargaining in good faith.

Its a small step in a great victory for the middle class

Glad to know you are going back to work and as long as they are at the table that is a good sign. Hope you get a fair contract.

Reading this line from the msnbc article made me want to puke.

The unions counter that the landline business supports the growing wireless business and that Verizon, which earned about $3 billion in the first half of the year, can afford to maintain the benefits in the contract that expired on Aug. 6.
