I opened an NBC single barrel last night, “Return of Jed”.

It’s the sister barrel to “Tennessee Jed”, which was crazy sweet and complex, totally and wonderfully different than what I think of MGP. “Return” is more classic MGP. Not as interesting as the former, but good in its own right.

Elijah Craig Barel Select. This was the one that really started my love for high proof bourbon. I think these bottles are available only at the distillery shop....this one was a gift from a friend on Cigat Asylum.

You should try a wheated. Something with a higher amount of wheat in the mashbill. It's the opposite of a rye basically. Rye is a tough sell for me as well, usually.

It is! For me, Rebel and Wilderness Trail come to mind also for higher wheat bourbons but Tom @icehog3 probably knows more than me.

I drank a lot of ryes when I first got into the whiskey scene. Now about the only rye that really apeals to me are the Whistlepig single barrels.

Higher proof wheaters include full proofs from Weller and 1792. Lots of higher proof Maker's expressions as well.

Cracked the 2020 MM Private Selection last night, even better than the 2021.

Some nice stuff you got to try there. I have had a lot of the different Maker's blends and every one I have had has been good.

I also love Maker’s private picks. One of the more fun and exciting bottles to try with how different each can be be.

It was ok, Joe, but for me doesn't stack up to similar proof Maker's Mark, 1792, Weller and other wheaters I enjoy. But everyone's palate is different.
